Back to Back Foiling |
Back to back foiling, or what we also refer to as piggyback foiling is used when a bold or chunk look is desired. Rather than selecting large amounts of hair to be placed in a single foil, we suggest that you place two foils in a close placement formation and divide the hair selection into the two foils. Everyone must remember that we are trying to achieve a close to the root variegated look and eliminate the need to tone.
Each ZipA foil is designed to process a maximum amount of hair. If too much hair is selected, we begin to lose the benefits of the ZipA foil. A great way of determining a limit for each foil is using the zig-zag edge as a selection gauge. If you limit your weave selection to only the volume of hair that will fill the grove or valley of the zig-zag edge you are safe. If the hair extends beyond the leading tip of the ZipA foil you must either place in a separate grove or use an additional foil.
It is obvious that the less hair selected for each foil provides the greatest results. This will become your call and based on your available time and client expectations. You are not limited in the number of foils that you piggyback. This opens the possibility of creating bold wide panels of precision color.

 | Step 1 Place your first ZipA foil in either the Traditional or Weaving Edge method. Apply solution, fold in half and process. |
 | Step 2 Use the Traditional Method to select a thin weave or slice just above the first foil. Do not leave hair between the first foil and your selected weave or slice. |
 | Step 3 Hold the selected hairs up to expose the parted hairline. Place the ZipA foil zig-zag edge just above the first foil. Lock the ZipA foil to the selected hair by pressing across the zig-zag edge. Adjust, apply solution, fold in half and process. |
